Originally from Cape Cod, Massachusetts,  Jesse Held pursued his passion for Design in Boston where he graduated with both a Bachelor of Science and Masters Degree in Architecture from Wentworth Institute of Technology. 

Eager to kickstart his career, Jesse relocated to New York City to assume a role as an architectural designer with Carlton Architecture where he assisted on various residential projects but most memorably on the design of three Frye Boots stores. This exploration of retail peaked his interest and eventually led him to join Ralph Lauren Corporation where he became Project Manager on the Global Store Development team focusing exclusively on Domestic Luxury Retail. Notable projects he was fortunate to aid in the design and construction of included the famed Polo Bar and Restaurant, Ralph’s Coffee global launch, the massive renovation of the 5th Avenue Polo Store, Ralph Lauren South Coast Plaza and the glamorous Ralph Lauren Rodeo Drive.

Curiosity and the desire to understand a different perspective then took Jesse to BHDM, an Interior Design Studio, where he stayed for 5 years and became a Director. While there, he developed a more holistic approach and wore many hats while designing numerous residential and commercial projects. 

Knowing that he would eventually branch out on his own, Jesse felt he needed one more experience to round out his credentials. He eventually joined Mace Group, an international construction company specializing in Owner’s Representation. As Senior Project Manager and Design Manager, he aided in the pre-planning and initial renovation of the 110,000 square foot Tiffany & Co. 5th Avenue Flagship. This position launched Jesse into managing both the Tiffany and Peter Marino Architect team while working hand in hand with some of the world's most exclusive millworkers, contractors and artisans.     

Jesse's hybrid background translates to a natural attention to detail and a continuously evolving passion for the design process. His most recent experiences at BHDM and Mace further enhanced his understanding of project documentation, FF&E and project management. Jesse's all-encompassing approach and knowledge has helped him design and deliver several large-scale globally recognized commercial projects and over 20+ private residential renovations. 

After 11 years of thought and experience,  Jesse finally established J.R. Held & Co. LLC  in August 2021 where he continues to design, project manage and consult with various clients in the Tri-State Area. 

Jesse currently resides in Fairfield County with his Partner and their two cats, Birdie and Dorothy.
